Butler University’s Center for Global Education (CGE) sends approximately 40% of Butler students abroad. Study abroad programs range from ten days to a full academic year, and there are hundreds of programs for students to choose from in 50+ countries. Students can choose from immersive, independent exchange programs; supportive, collaborative faculty-led experiences; or programs that land somewhere in the middle that are run by our provider partners.
In 2023, U.S. News & World Report ranked Butler University 28th in the nation for study abroad.
Butler students consistently say that study abroad is the best thing they did while in school. Study abroad provides students with a new perspective on the world and helps them gain independence, adaptability, intercultural communication skills, and more! Donor-funded scholarships make a huge help make study abroad a possibility for our students; they truly make a difference in a student’s life, Butler experience, and career trajectory. It’s for this reason that we’re asking for your support to help fund two study abroad scholarships:

Florence Jessup Memorial Study Abroad Fund
The Florence Jessup Memorial Study Abroad Fund was established in memory of Dr. Florence Redding. This fund supports students going on the Butler Semester in Spain program in Alcalá de Henares with funds to help cover tuition, fees, or travel expenses.
Samuel A. Wilson Fund
The Samuel A. Wilson Fund was established by a dedicated Butler faculty member who has witnessed the value of study abroad experiences in the lives of Butler students and desires to make those experiences available to as many students as possible. This fund supports Pell-eligible students in STEM participating in short-term study abroad programs, like Art and Engineering in Ireland and Panama - Tropical Terrestrial Biology.
