Jordan College of the Arts
Imagine. Innovate. Inspire.

The Jordan College of the Arts exists to develop students into artist-citizens who will become leaders in arts and society.

Highlights about our College:

  • JCA includes the School of Music, as well as the Departments of Art, Arts Administration, Dance, and Theatre.
  • We offer both professional degrees (BFA in dance, BM in music) as well as true liberal arts degrees (BA in art, music, and theatre), which many students pursue in order to double major or minor in another college.
  • JCA students present nearly 150 student performances annually, utilizing the five venues of the Butler Arts and Events Center: Clowes Memorial Hall, Schrott Center for the Arts, Eidson-Duckwall Recital Hall, Lilly Hall Studio Theatre, and Shelton Auditorium.
  • The JCA Signature Series brings world-renowned guest artists to our campus for mini-residencies that include a public performance or lecture, plus workshops and master classes for JCA students.

In order to continue building on these strengths and fulfilling our vision of being the leader in arts education and innovation in Indianapolis and the region, we need your help. Invest in our students and the cultural fabric of our community by supporting the Jordan College of the Arts through one of our strategic funding priorities listed below. Each initiative will enhance the learning opportunities we are able to provide our students while expanding the reach of our cultural impact in the region.

Bud Kerwin Scholarship Matching Challenge
Harry (Bud) Kerwin encouraged all of his dance students to be the best creative versions of themselves, and “go for it” in a very challenging career. To honor his legacy, the Bud Kerwin JCA Dance Scholarship was created to immortalize all he gave to his students and the dance community. In celebration of Day of Giving, gifts to this fund will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $5,000, as a way to say “thank you” to one of the most important mentors and teachers that ever walked into the dance studios at Butler University!

Arts Administration Gift Fund Challenge
Your gift can unlock additional support for the Arts Administration Department! 10 gifts to this challenge will unlock $1,250 in funding for the Arts Administration Gift Fund. Gifts to the Arts Administration Gift Fund support the next generation of leaders in the arts by providing trips for students to explore the arts in new cities, panels and guest speakers, and support for students that take on low or no paying internships.
